After a fruitless search for the Slavonian Grebe this morning in Dover Docks, along with Tim Gutsell we moved off to look for something to photograph. We sat looking out to sea and whilst emptying our flasks we caught sight of a Peregrine flying from our left and towards us. What followed was an event that does not happen too often, the bird perched on a ledge right in front of us and stayed there for twenty minutes. We managed dozens of shots before it alighted, flew out to sea and then returned back to the same perch. We only had an hour but what an eventful hour, before returning home to watch Arsenal poke five past the old enemy, the day got better and better.
Simply stunning photographs Steve as they say wait long enough and the birds come to you. Just finished watching your lads in action on MOTD2 they did very well to bounce back after after the last few games!
Great shots Steve.. funnily enough, I'd planned to take my Mum to Dover to walk the Cliffs as she a NT member.. your photos inspired me to do so... and I had a similar encounter with what looks to be the same bird! It had just fed so sat 30ft away just staring at me for an hr. Still perched on the cliff when I left! cheers mate!
Ithought I had done well until I saw your superb pics, you must have been following just behind me,this bird is very sure of itself, hopefully no one with something worse than a camera finds it. Phil

What a jammy pair of so and sos. When pearched they won't let me get a sight of them let alone tickle their tummies.
Superb shots though.
Fantastic stunning shots.. ...and I enjoyed the Arsenal win too!
Will follow your blog more!
Regards,
Nick
What a fantastic piece of chance Steve, and you took good advantage of it :-) Brilliant work :-)
Simply stunning Steve, superb shots.
Should have followed you up instead of looking for that damn Grebe, hehe.
Martyn I tried to text you but all I got was a message welcoming me to France. Strange as I was about a mile from you on the cliff top in Dover !!!
Absolutely stunning shots Steve!
An unbelievable occasion Steve and my word, did you take the opportunity. Incredible, images of a lifetime, I'd say.

What a chance in a million for the Peregrine to rest up right near you, and what magnificent photo's you got of it. Well done.
